Analysis of Movie Trailer
In our group, we decided on an action themed movie called
Fractured. It told the story of a young school girl and her family who had a
hidden secret. They were a very normal
family who lived a normal life until someone found out the secret. These people made it their mission to get the
family to reveal their secret to the world. To do this, they captured Vanessa,
the school girl in the family and held her hostage and threatened to kill her
if the secret was not reviled.
For our trailer, we did not want to reveal all the tense and
thrilling parts of the movie like some trailers do, as we felt it would ruin
it. (Even though we are not making the movie)
What went
well?
Firstly, we filmed all the footage for the trailer on an
iPhone 5c, as it’s a new version of iPhone, the camera has much better quality
that a standard video camera. This meant that the trailer was high quality in
terms of the footage it included. We filmed in and around the school which
showed the audience instantly it was about a school pupil. We used iMovie to
put all of our clips together, so that we could use the templates and music
already loaded on iMovie to make our trailer look professional. It meant that
we were able to find appropriate music and titles to link with our theme, which
made our trailer look realistic.
What could
be improved?
Throughout the filming of Fractured, we didn't realise but we
filmed most of our footage in portrait, when actually we needed to film it in
landscape to make it look more professional. As filming in portrait means that
some of the shots can look odd as some of the scenery is cut off. Another improvement
we could make is using a tripod when filming the footage. This is because the
filming in Fractured is very shaky due to it being filmed on an iPhone by hand.
This does not look very professional as it gives the impression that our
filming is not great.
